AUSTRALIAN COUNSELLING ASSOCIATION (ACA) is Australia’s largest single registration body for Counsellors and Psychotherapists with over 5,000 members. ACA serves a crucial role in advocating and advancing the profession of counselling and psychotherapy. ACA’s objectives include: to promote and advocate for the counselling profession, establish appropriate training standards for the profession, accredit education courses for Counsellors, recognize appropriate professional development opportunities for members, assist the mental health consumer access ethical and appropriate service providers, etc.
HONG KONG PROFESSIONAL COUNSELLING ASSOCIATION (HKPCA) is the oldest (founded in 1995) and largest organization representing professional Counsellors in Hong Kong with over 1,200 certified members. Our missions are to enhance the competencies of qualified professionals, to foster a strong professional network, to advance research and ethical standards, and to provide guidance for counselling education. HKPCA strives to educate the general public on the significance of mental health and promotes the acceptance of counselling as an integral part of maintaining wellbeing. With the Continued Professional Development requirement and the Ethics Complaints Handling Panel system, HKPCA continues to advance the professionalism of counselling in Hong Kong towards an international standard of practice.
This MEMORANDUM of UNDERSTANDING signed in Q4, 2018 was entered into by and between Australian Counselling Association Inc (ACA) and The Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association (HKPCA), which constitutes a broad representation of professional counsellors in Hong Kong, legal basis of its creation and its function.
While this MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING does not establish a binding contractual relationship between the Parties, it does facilitate the establishment of working relationship between them, potentially leading to the conduct of various collaborative activities.
