Post Specification : Visiting Associate (Part-time) (Counselling Practicum Supervision)
The appointees will assist in supervising the students of the Master of Arts in Guidance and Counselling programme. They will be required to:
(a) attend weekly supervision sessions over a consecutive period of twenty-five weeks;
(b) provide group and individual supervision to a group of counselling students (usually six students in a group);
(c) ensure ethical and professional counselling practices are respected and adhered to;
(d) provide on-site supervision and view all student counselling sessions to ensure students receive “supervised practice”;
(e) evaluate students’ performance over a twenty-five-week period when the students engage in counselling with a variety of clients and provide a final grade;
(f) be willing to impart relevant knowledge and guide students regarding case conceptualization, models of counselling and specific counselling skills; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his delegates.
(a) have a master’s degree in Counselling or Social Work or an equivalent qualification;
(b) have at least five years of post-qualification experience in counselling and social work practice;
(c) have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua being an advantage;
(d) have good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; and
(e) be confident in supervising a group of students handling a variety of cases.
